"Build the medieval landscape tile by tile and claim its features."

Back to Game Library

Setup

Place the starting tile (with a dark back) face-up. Shuffle all other tiles. Each player takes 8 meeples of their color (one is the score marker). Place score markers at 0 on the scoring track.

How to Play

  1. On your turn, draw one tile from the stack.
  2. Place it adjacent to existing tiles so features match (roads connect to roads, etc.).
  3. You may place one meeple from your supply onto a feature of that tile (city, road, farm, or cloister).
  4. That meeple claims that feature.
  5. Once a feature is completed (a closed city, a road with two ends, etc.), score points and return the meeple to your supply.
  6. Farms score only at the end of the game.

Winning the Game

Score completed features as you go: roads = 1 point per tile, cities = 2 points per tile (plus 2 per pennant), cloisters = 9 points. At game end, farms score 3 points per completed city they touch. The player with the most points wins.

Variants & House Rules

Inns & Cathedrals adds big meeples and doubled scores. Traders & Builders adds goods and a builder meeple.
